BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — You could go back to school with all the advice in the world from adults — but, who better to show you the ropes than students who just learned them?
CBS 2 News met with a few Treasure Valley fifth graders who claim to know a thing or two about conquering a new school!
"Try your best to learn what you can," recommends Jaxon Espinosa, a fifth-grader. "If there [are] certain things you can't do, then that's what your limits are and you'll learn what your limits are!"
10-year-old Jaxon said don't be afraid to ask for help from upperclassman!
"We're not that scary! We're actually more scared than you are," said Jaxon.
Don't forget, you can also go to an adult for help!
"As I've progressed through all the grades, I started to know all the aides and the other teacher in the other room," said Waylon Legler, a fifth-grader. "So, I kind of knew all of them."
Starting a new grade does have its challenges, but keep in mind, you're not in it alone!
"Ask a lot of questions," suggests Lucas Peterson, a fifth-grader.
That's the key to being a leader in learning — know when to ask for help!
If you know of a teacher, school, or student who is making a positive impact on education in the Treasure Valley email details to Abigail Taylor at ataylor@kboi2.com to see them featured in CBS 2's weekly Leaders in Learning segment sponsored by CapEd.
